About Cindy

 

Cindy head shot designCindy Wilkinson is a graduate of the University of Nebraska – Kearney with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She was worked extensively with children since 1977 as a preschool teacher, music teacher, nanny, and children’s performer.

Cindy’s background includes:

  • Directing the Swallow Hill Children’s Choir
  • Composing music for the Denver Center Theatre Academy “Kid’s Company” and for the Castle Rock Players production of “Charlotte’s Web”
  • Creating Swallow Hill’s International Music Camp
  • Serving as a presenter for educator workshops throughout the country including – the International Nanny Association (INA), the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the Colorado Association for the Education of Young Children (CAEYC), University of Nebraska – Kearney, and Nannypalooza
  • Writer for many nanny publications and is a featured writer for the INA

Other highlights include:

  • Creating the CD “Beautiful Colors, Beautiful Notes” with the K-1-2’s at the Stanley British Primary School
  • Developing an integrated curriculum involving music, movement, storytelling, and visual arts for ESL students
  • Assisting with the development of the “Little Bears” music program for the Blue Bear School of Music in San Francisco

Cindy was a long-time educator with the Swallow Hill Music School Faculty and Denver Center for Performing Arts. She has served on the faculties of the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, Denver Cooperative Preschool, Montview Community Preschool, MSCD Child Development Center, Children’s Academy of Danville, and the Stanley British Primary School.

She has taught in numerous schools offering music enrichment with both elementary and preschool-aged children and in residency programs as a teaching artist. In California, Cindy developed and taught the music fundamentals class for elementary and middle school students at the Berkeley Ballet Theater.

In 1998, Cindy was awarded the International Nanny Association’s Nanny of the Year for her work within the nanny industry.
